How often have we been too quick to judge someone based on their looks?  How many times have we laughed at someone when we knew nothing about them?  And, how many times have we simply ignored someone because we didn’t think they were worth our time?  I’ve been guilty of all of the above, how about you?

On Saturday night, Susan Boyle appeared on Britain’s Got Talent.  An older heavy set woman, who didn’t appear to fit the stereotype of anyone with talent, Boyle openly admitted to the studio audience that she has never been married or even kissed.  Residing in a small village in Scotland and unemployed, Boyle has spent the last few years of her life caring for her ailing mother, who passed away in 2007.  Living alone and still scarred by the taunting she received early in her life as a result of a learning disability, the only real singing experience Boyle could recall was as a member of her church choir.  On Saturday night, at 48 years of age, standing on stage in front of millions of viewers, Susan Boyle endured laughter, hisses and boos.  Not to be deterred, she showed no reaction and politely smiled.  Little did anyone in the audience know, the joke was on them.  TV viewers were stunned and, without a doubt, others like Susan Boyle thumbed their noses at those of us who never gave them a chance.

If this video clip doesn’t make you laugh and cry at the same time, you’re missing something in life.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
